Chicago Rooftop Summer Wedding

Kelli + Josh | 08.08.2020

I received an Instagram message from Kelli in mid-July asking about my availability for her wedding. It was only a couple weeks away and she said her photographer double booked on her and would no longer be able to photograph her wedding. How awful is that! I don’t know what kind of photographer does that, but their loss. Luckily I had the day available and promised Kelli that it would be my ONLY wedding that day. In the end, it worked out for everyone. I got to meet Kelli and Josh and captured their wedding day.

Getting Ready

It started at their apartment in Chicago. Due to Covid-19, they planned an intimate wedding with just their closest friends and family. The ceremony was going to be on their rooftop and they reserved a room at Chicago Cut Steakhouse for cocktail hour and dinner.

When I arrived, Kelli was finishing up her makeup. Shortly after, her mom helped her get into her dress. She looked amazing and so happy!

Meanwhile, Josh was hanging out with his family. There was nothing but joy and laughter in the air. Josh appeared to be very excited and ready to get married.

Ceremony

The ceremony took place on their rooftop in Chicago’s Smith Park. They decorated the rooftop with plants from their apartment, which looked really nice, and we had a beautiful summer day. The weather couldn’t have been better. Kelli looked so beautiful and it was so special to see her dad walk her down the aisle. There’s a bend around a corner from the elevator to the rooftop, which led to the reveal. Josh’s face lit up - such a precious moment. The ceremony was short and sweet. When it was over, they popped some champagne and celebrated with their family.

Tuman’s Tap

After the ceremony, Kelli and Josh wanted to take photos at Tuman’s Tap off Chicago Ave. where they first met. We had the place to ourselves and were able to get some really cool photos.

Chicago Cut

After Tuman’s, we made our way to Chicago Cut Steakhouse. We took some time to take photos right outside the restaurant on the LaSalle St bridge and the riverfront. They had a room in Chicago Cut for cocktail hour. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and the food looked SO good. Both Kelli and Josh were so happy and it was such an incredible day. These two are amazing together and I’m so lucky to have spent some time with them on their wedding. I wish you guys nothing but the best!
