Intimate Wedding at The Homestead 1854

Elizabeth + Peter | 08.07.2020

On Friday, August 7th, 2020 Elizabeth and Peter pronounced their love for one another. Due to Covid-19, they decided to have a small, intimate wedding with just immediate family. The guest count was low, but the day was huge. They picked the perfect place for a beautiful wedding at The Homestead 1854 in Plano, IL.

The Homestead 1854 is located 54 miles southeast of Chicago and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This 1850’s Manor is situated on 2 acres and can accommodate up to 100 guests. The current owners, Mary Kay and Chet, (who are amazing) have skillfully preserved the simple elegance established by Lewis Steward, who also founded the surrounding town of Plano. It’s truly a beautiful venue for intimate weddings.

Getting Ready

When I first arrived, I found Elizabeth on the 2nd floor suite where her mom was helping her get ready. Elizabeth is such a sweet person and she was so excited it was her wedding day. She also looked stunning! Meanwhile, Peter was getting ready downstairs. Elizabeth wrote Peter a letter which he read. They both were so happy and now ready to get married.

Father-Daughter First Look

Before the ceremony, Elizabeth wanted to do a first look with her dad. I always love doing these and as a father to two girls myself, they always tug on my heart strings. You can see the love in his face. I can only imagine what it must feel like. Such a sweet moment between Elizabeth and her dad.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was held outside in the garden and it was beautiful. It was just a perfect day.

After the ceremony we spent some time taking newlywed photos. The Homestead 1854 has so many great spots for photos and we took advantage of the beautiful property as much as we could during the time we had.

The Reception

Dinner was held in the Timber Tent decked with chandeliers. Elizabeth, Peter, and their guests all sat at one long table. There was nothing but laughs and smiles. Their family played a video highlighting both of the childhoods which was super sweet. Overall it was a great time and the food was AMAZING. Elizabeth and Peter cut their cake and had their first dance. Then Elizabeth danced with her dad and Peter danced with his mom. These two families are so loving and it was an honor to play a role in their momentous day.

We ended the night with a few more photos. I was so happy to spend the day with them and it was amazing to document their wedding. It was a beautiful day with even better people. Congrats Elizabeth and Peter!!!
